Futuristic Lover presents Project Fiona

There will be a time, when sleepy Alienware might take its gaming inspirations further in the form of a tablet.  A true gaming tablet is hard to find, even in the Chinese flea markets. This year, one of the gaming accessories titan Razer has initiated a gaming tablet kind of concept.  Actually, I have never seen their concept turned into a reality. This time also, their design team has come up with some thing unique and likely to draw many spectators.  It’s a tablet but at the same time a fully fledged monstrous PC.  The main USP of Project Fiona has to be its unique design. The tablet looks extremely similar to the average looking tablets but here what matters most are its gaming pads or motion controllers attached with the tablet. And the controllers remind me of PlayStation Move.  I would like to say that the only and the single biggest USP of having Project Fiona are its integrated dual gaming controllers.  Mind you, this tablet caters only to hard core gamers.

Why anyone like to go for Project Fiona?  If, I have to choose between an iPad and Project Fiona, than definitely as a hard core gamer, my vote goes to Project Fiona. The reason is crystal clear; it’s actually hell difficult to use an iPad as gaming device due to lack of physical buttons. It even applied with Sony tablet S. Initially, it launched as a gaming tablet (not exactly) but lack of gaming controllers is a hindrance, for sure.

As mentioned in Razer's web page , than Project Fiona will likely get 10.1’’ screen (1280 x 800) display. The screen also supports multi – touch.  It’s a hybrid PC cum tablet, thanks to Intel core i7 processor. Other important features include accelerometer, 3 – axis gyroscope, magnetometer. According to cnet.com, the tablet might run  Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8. Are you thrilled by this type of concept? Will tablets actually conquer gaming market? Many questions Yet to be answered on the future of tablets in gaming space. 

  

Angry Birds most played game on Windows Phone 7

Angry Birds are no longer angry with Windows Phone users. The money making game has acknowledged as the most played game on Windows Phone 7 platforms. The game was launched with much enthusiasm on June 29, 2011 on Microsoft’s Smart Phone platform.  The combined list has been prepared by Xbox Live’s Major Nelson.  The list contains 20 top performing games judged on the basis on global unique users connected to Xbox Live during last year.  After Angry Birds, another game which smashed worldwide records is Fruit Ninga followed by Plants vs Zombies and Need of Speed Undercover.

With the coming up of popping smart phone games , once might Nintendo DS and Sony’s PlayStation Portable success rate has gown down tremendously. In the beginning, games like Angry Birds got some high voltage criticism from hard core gamers active on leading hand held platforms. But, now, situation is completely opposite. There are gamers, who still like to play on their beloved hand held consoles but the higher priced console games invites gamers to stay away. That’s why, Sony, too tried to offer cheaper games (Mini) on PlayStation Portable but the end result was not satisfactory.

The success of Angry Birds is not limited to Windows Phone 7. The internet is abuzz with number of fake Angry Birds typed game. Last month, I downloaded, fake Angry Birds on my Samsung Star II. And, it’s running absolutely fine on Java enabled Star II.

Of Lately, 3DS is enjoying every bit of stardom in Japan. The recent, statistics shows that Nintendo last year shifted 8 million units in Japan & America alone. Yesterday, Metal Gear Solid’s Chief honcho Hideo Kojima posted something wacky yet predictable. For the first time, he raised curtains from the upcoming hardware bundle celebrating the launch of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. I hope, you are not predicting 3DS lite, for sure. Any ways, if you love to spend your day under the shadow of luxury kitten environment, than this deal is meant for your expensive pleasure.

Nintendo Circle Pro Pad

Nintendo and Kojima plans to unveil Snake Skin embossed 3DS on January 20, 2012. Other relevant details including its pricing and system info details should be passed to consumers on that day itself. The upcoming title Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D could be a turning point in 3DS career span. As per the publisher, the game is set in Japan on March 8, 2012.I do recommend, Circle Pro Pad for accurate gaming.  While writing this post my infectious mind is gearing plans to play Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2) this evening.

Of lately, this emerging platform is gaining impeccable applauds from industry leaders and consumers.  Last week, I visited my friends place to see her brand new Samsung Focus S, which she got from USA. My first reaction was ‘wow’, what a super duper phone. Then, I immediately snatched the phone from her and did some insight scrutinizing. Because, the phone was so beautiful and mature in nature that I paid a brief visit to Windows Market Place (answer to Apple App store). As the title suggests “ 3 T.Gs for Windows Phone 7 “, I want to stick to the title of my post not to the handset review.

Let’s make some noise for Final Fantasy XIII- 2 PS3 bundle

It’s well known around the world that Japan gets maximum glorified hardware bundles. But this time around, Taiwan gets super delicious Final Fantasy XIII- 2 Lightning edition hardware bundle. To celebrate titles release, SCET announced exclusive engraved PlayStation 3 system . It’s not wrong to call Final Fantasy series “the ultimate power house “. The deal will cost you NT $ 11,280 for both hardware and game and NT $ 1,690, if you opt for single game. All actions start from January 31^st, 2012 onwards. One of the biggest advantages of getting this bundle is the availability in both English and local language.

The game was released in Japan on December 15^th and managed to hit 524, 000 copies (PS3) in single week. This prolific title is not limited to Japan or Taiwan alone. Touted as biggest RPG title till date, its North American / European release date is confirmed by publisher Square Enix. The title is set to hit North American shores from January 31^st, 2012. As usual, expectation from this game will be high due to publishers past track record. After all, who can forgot Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest & Dissidia Final Fantasy.

@Sony When wrong price spoils New Year Eve

Its official Sony Tablet S is set to shed some extra flab from existing $499 price tag. The company happily announced $100 price reduction to make tablet survive, at least for few more months. Last week, Blackberry India, too announced, mouth watering price reduction on PlayBook range of tablets. After reading first two lines, your mind must be bombarded with hell number of confusing questions. One must be why I used the term price reduction. I mean, PS VITA is yet to land in states and Europe. But, what we learnt from PS VITA’s Japanese horrific reception is that gamers are reluctant to pay even $250 for quad –core powered hand held console.

Sony might be in terrible position around the world. From T.V business to smart phone tally, they are losing every inch in almost all categories. But their Network division (includes PlayStation devices) is gathering handsome number in terms of sales and profits. Except America, where Xbox 360 is far ahead than PS3, otherwise, Sony’s consoles are doing pretty well. Last year, PS VITA officially made available to eager Japanese consumers. The week long carnival and various other events marked the arrival of PS VITA. The expectation was high from the beginning, at least in Japan. But sadly, the system sold 321, 407 units in its first two days. Then, the drought continues with 72 K units in its second week of sales. Looks like, hand held consoles are thing of past in latest Smart phone world. Surprising, its nearest competitor 3DS sold more in number than Vita’s 72 K number.

@Sony Learning from 3DS launch experience

If you recall, 3DS also had some terrible launch time. Some blame its lack luster gamer titles other blamed its 3DS display. But soon, Nintendo announced hefty price cuts to make 3DS an irresistible deal. Now, its $169 price tag invites all gamers to join 3DS party. With huge number of tempting titles, this console too saw ups and down. Remember, 3DS is successor to celebrated DS range of console. Its predecessor got coveted title of best selling hand held console of all time. Then, why people were afraid to buy 3DS in the beginning. Obviously, any gamer would like to have more and more options. Companies can take advantage of multimedia features or so called 3D features built into gaming devices to marketing their products. But in reality, without respectable titles any gaming console is incomplete. You better start winding up your gaming ambitions.

Though, it’s too early to predict PS Vita’s future. I know, Sony strategies will be completely different in handing Japanese debacle. They need to do something extra ordinary to make Vita on survival mode. Adding more and more god titles, as fast as possible is one option. Another, option could be price reduction and its make some sense too. 

An iTV can change your life , really ?

When we talk about T.Vs, one thing that cannot be denied is the lack of brain embedded in a television .Though, we have moved from boxed T.Vs to latest smart ones. But, each time, we need to have a source (DVRs, gaming consoles & Set- Up-Boxes) to make T.V functional. In simple language, we can say that a modern television wants your attention to make things going.  It’s true to say that, a T.V works best, when you own his mind. If you want to play latest high definition games, you need a super rich gaming console or for watching latest season of 30 Rocks; set –up – box can make your life going. Lately, there has been a sea change in the technologies used in manufacturing a television set. The process started with hard disk based televisions ( I guess, LG was the one , who initiated the process), than super thin T.V start appearing followed by LED, 3D & Smart T.Vs. Don’t forget to include Google T.Vs .

 Till now, various technologies came to make television sets, a must have part of our daily life. In 2011, you have seen the magic of OnLive service, Sony’s forgettable internet T.Vs & Samsung’s Smart T.Vs. Now imagine, you are playing latest console quality game on your T.V without taking help from your beloved consoles. Time has come, when your television can think and deliver undiluted entertainment activities without remote control. He’s the Boss, He’s the creator, and all you need his attention. Recently, from all directions, one can smell something cooking in Apple’s kitchen.  The company might unveil next generation T.V sets in the first half of 2012. After magical iPADs, intelligent T.Vs was Steve Jobs last unfulfilled delayed project. On the other side, Sony wants to revive dwindling Bravia brand by launching its own range of Smart T.Vs. 

What to expect ? The fate of intelligent T.Vs will be decided by the innovative use of design & brain. If we go by Apple’s past track record, than iOS will power future T.Vs, for sure. The company might use its own ecosystem. Remember, I was talking about brain in the very beginning, so future T.Vs from leading manufacturers will take advantage of recent Smart Phone success. As Android is gaining momentum in mobile ecosystem, Sony might end up using android operating system. Reason? Their marriage with Google started with Sony Ericssion followed by Google T.V and Tablet S.

So, we would like to conclude by saying that many new technologies come and fade away. From ugly box to slim trip one, this piece of technology always attracted retailers, consumers, advertisers & creative lookers. The future rather belongs to all in one device , so bye - bye to next generation consoles. All I want is a full -fledged monster T.V.

Hey, there is no harm in making friends. Just look at Xbox 360 & Wii, I never complained about their coziness with Netflix.  Now, consoles are no longer stranger to entertainment dose. In Australia, Quickflix, a movie streaming Service Company has signed an agreement with Sony. From now onwards, Australian gamers can sign up from their PS3 and stream plenty of movies. Some of the finest movies are now available via Quickflix streaming. So, whenever you feel bored with games (Hmm...not happening  soon), just stream latest movies. For $14.99, this particular streaming service adds a new dimension to your PlayStation 3.

Microsoft might be having hard time in Japan; due to bad rapport with gamers on the other hand PlayStation family added a new arrival. Ahead of global world debut of PS Vita (17^th December), Sony added a new color to existing PS3 consoles. The dazzling bomb shell comes with special engraved character from upcoming PS3 title called One Piece: Kaizoku Musou. This limited edition console will retail for ¥38,170(Rs 25,879) from March 1st, 2012. Don’t worry; you will be getting a title along with the console (320 GB capacity). There is no point in going for golden PS3, if you already own a black one. Its better, to start saving for PS Vita folks.

 Wow! A subtle caring pouch will always magnetized people around you. For, that you need to shell 1,800 yen (tax included). If you stretch your budget a little bit, than go for luxury black leather case cum strap for 4,000 yen. Next on the list is an Ear bud headset (exclusive) for PS VITA. If any for you are planning to replace your old pair of head phone, than go for 2,800 yen Vita headset.

GTA III to make Grand entry on ios, Android platforms, starting next week

You must be an avid Grand Theft Auto III fan. Remember, you’re old good days, when you used to play with your girl. After making waves on popular home consoles, the phantom of all time is set to splash on your “i” pads or simply “a ” pads. The game is set to invade Apple’s App store and Android Market place on December 15^th, 2011.

For Microsoft, Black Friday is just another terrific occasion

When we talk about Xbox 720, new hardware & better graphics came to our mind.  Just look at the recent numbers released by Microsoft. As per the company, they almost sold 1 million units (960,000) of Xbox 360s. Wooh!  And on the occasion of Black Friday, they sold 800,000 units. Their hit factory continues by selling 750,000 units of Kinect hardware as well. I am totally blown away by Microsoft’s stupendous efforts. They categorically chose different techniques of marketing plus delivered excellent gaming experience.

Now, I am imagining, where my once “Closest Buddy” stands in front of Xbox 360. To make PS3 mass- popular among American youths, they shelved its price too by $50. But sales are just normal; they never came up with exact numbers, at least in Americas. If we recall, number of analysts raised their voices against Xbox price by saying that “they should keep Xbox price lower”. Do Microsoft really need to lower Xbox 360 price? Why this question never being raised in front of Apple H.Q ? No company will going to play with their product price, till the time their “Pet” start getting ignored by loved ones. Even, if they are selling Xbox 360 for $300, its fine with the masses. At least, they see value by paying $300.

Presenting 3DS in gosh “Pink”

Recently, Nintendo of America took a sensible decision by launching “Pink” colored limited edition bundle. The all new bundle would be great for hard core Katy Perry fans, especially teenage guys and girls. The company has set December 4^th for its availability. The bundle includes hot chick pink 3DS along with the copy of Nintedogs + Cats. All you need is to visit your nearest gaming store with $169.99 in your hands. I remember, Sony Europe too launched a pink version of PSP back in 2006, for that they had collaborated with pop diva Pink (P!ink PSP).

UPDATE:  Nintendo will going to update 3DS firmware on December 8th. The new firmware update will add 3D movie capture using 3DS in- built camera.

Now, I can say very easily that the next iteration of Xbox 360 would in front of you any time soon. Each passed; new gossip related to Xbox 720 is rising like a thunder storm.  According to DigitalFoundry sources, Microsoft is planning to launch two models of Xbox catering to different set of masses. The lower end model will be similar to a new age set –top - box with all digital apps built into it besides games. The interesting thing  is that the lower end model won't have an optical hard drive but works purely on "Digital " medium .The second version will be on higher side with all the modern amenities like “Next “generation processor, hard drive and other host of features.

 If you thought that Kinect also gets an image makeover, than forget it for a time being. We assume that Kinect will be an essential commodity bundled with next gen Xbox consoles. No information about its hardware specifications and availability. Wait for CES 2012 or E3 gaming conference to get an update on Xbox 720.

MineCraft is ready to shake legs with Xbox Fanboys

It’s time for Xbox family to participate in the world of MineCraft. At MineCon 2011, the developer has finally announced Xbox 360 version. The game is due to arrive on Xbox via Xbox Live, some time in spring 2012.

In less than 2 years, this game reaches unimaginable heights, thanks to its massive appeal worldwide. Till now, MineCraft was only available on ios, Android and PC platforms. With 4 million sales to its credit, the best is yet to come (in terms of sales). The upcoming Xbox version of MineCraft will be bigger and better. For a time being , start constructing 3D cubes in your dreams for free. No need to pay for Beta version. 

Halo 4 is exclusive to Xbox 360, says Microsoft

Holiday season has already kicked off with fabulous response. One of the biggest grosser this year Call of Duty: Modern Welfare 3 opened with awesome response in major gaming territories. Now, its turn of Microsoft share t something important yet shocking .The company has finally announced that  Halo 4 is exclusive to Xbox 360. There were rumors that the next iteration to Halo Reach might be launched on a new platform.

Though, rumors of Xbox 720 have already making waves on internet. So, we have to assume that Xbox 360 as a platform is going to stay for a while. There are many reasons for Xbox 360 to be an ultimate console not only this year but in 2013 as well. Firstly, Xbox is doing a decent job in getting consumers; recent numbers by NPD says so. Secondly Kinect, Microsoft answer to Wii has opened new vistas for developers besides gaming. Thirdly, Xbox Live has emerged as a winner not only in getting gamers together but also in social front. We will see more usage of Kinect in coming months. Developers are yet to squeeze juice from Xbox 360. By the way, Halo 4 is set to arrive in stores by the end of 2012.

Ask, your DAD (ATM) to splurge some cash on white PS3

Every time, we gamers gaze at Japanese hot shot launches. Sony, being Japanese brand favors its home market. But, this time, SCEE got an idea to launch White PS3 systems. They know that, PS3 can never ever succeed Xbox 360, at least in United States of America. It’s better to expand European market, where Xbox 360 is not bright. White PS3 comes with 320 GB of space with 2 dual – analog controllers plus all common specifics found in regular (Black) PlayStation 3. What is the price is it expensive? You need to pay £299.99 for white PS3. Can I grab this edition from my local gaming store? No, only GameStop has an authority to sell white PS3, that too via online store. Don’t worry Australians, after Britain, it’s your turn.  

3DS gets Golden treatment

Nintendo is almost ready to fill your Christmas mood with gold, Zelda and 3D graphics.  To celebrate The Legend of Zelda 25^th anniversary, the company has come up with a unique bundle. This limited back is set to be launched on 25^th November, 2011 in Europe (You heard it right, only for European Audiences). What you get in limited edition bundle?  A copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarnia of Time 3D, beautifully engraved 3DS (looks like true Japanese beast) among other regular stuff.  No word on the pricing, folks. Is it necessary for Nintendo to launch such bundles? In a tight gripped environment like these, limited edition bundle, don’t make any sense. It’s better to discount quality titles rather than launching luxury bundles.
