Add Golden PS3 to ignite your play hormones

Golden Ambitions

Microsoft might be having hard time in Japan; due to bad rapport with gamers on the other hand PlayStation family added a new arrival. Ahead of global world debut of PS Vita (17th December), Sony added a new color to existing PS3 consoles. The dazzling bomb shell comes with special engraved character from upcoming PS3 title called One Piece: Kaizoku Musou. This limited edition console will retail for ¥38,170(Rs 25,879) from March 1st, 2012. Don’t worry; you will be getting a title along with the console (320 GB capacity). There is no point in going for golden PS3, if you already own a black one. Its better, to start saving for PS Vita folks.

Turn your PS3 into “Surfing Ground”

Credit- PlayStation Japan

In Today’s time, owning a  gaming console just to play games is like a joke. Take a case of Xbox 360 , which not only used as a gaming siren but often used as a “ Entertainment Platform “ basically non-gaming activities. PlayStation 3 is synonymous with entertainment based activities whether you want to surf the internet or watch Hi-def movies thanks to built in Blu- Ray player. One of the reason I choose PlayStation 3 over Xbox 360 is because of its web browsing capability which is at par with PC( We want Chrome) . You can use Bluetooth enabled wireless keyboard (No harm at all) but using official accessory specifically meant for PlayStation 3 has its own benefits. Come June 30, Sony will start selling official wireless Bluetooth Keyboard at 5,000 Yen. One of the highlight of this unique keyboard is the support of PS button built into it, just like your regular PS3 controller works. So, you can chat (text), surf the net with ease. Of late, the company realized that to make PlayStation as a brand stronger in consumer eyes, you need to expand the services whether in the form of physical accessories or software based services like PlayStation Store. Today at E3 press conference, the company announced an affordable line of PlayStation- Branded 3D TV. The 24 -inch comes with 3D glasses ,Resistance 3 game & HDMI cable costing $500

Sony to launch PlasyStation branded Earphones for ipod obsessed generation

Credit- Sony Japan

Sony is looking pathetically confident these days, at least in Japan. Their 6 years old handheld console PSP is kicking 3DS booty with pride. We all are well aware about Play Station Portables gaming capability (Just kidding). If Sony provides us with games, no one can ignore this adorable gaming platform. Anyways, you guys must be familiar with PSPs music functionality. Honestly, I really like PSP as a music player, but for that you need to use good quality earphones. To highlight PSPs Music capability, Sony Japan has just launched their new line of pretty earphones. Why would you like to buy these earphones? Is it because they are marketed by Sony with PlayStation branding on them? Company claims that these headphones are perfect for your gaming as well as music experience. No word on its global launch. As for now, Sony plans to launch these headphones in Japan (July 21) @ 2, 200 Yen / $27/ Rs. 1214/ € 18.9/£16.61/$AU 25.

It’s Sony vs. Microsoft

Sony is riding high on the global shipments of PS3 beating Microsoft’s Xbox 360. According to an independent research, PS3 is way above Xbox 360. Sony was always a big in Europe & rest of the world. But its Seductress ,PS3 never overshadowed Xbox 360 in USA. . We are not saying that PS3 was a flop in states. PlayStation as a brand had pretty good run in United States of America, World’s largest gaming markets. On the other hand, Xbox 360 never got attention in Japanese market. I don’t know, why Microsoft is shy to announce that Xbox 360 failed to entice Japanese gamers. Europe, World’s second largest gaming market loves PlayStation over Xbox. In France, PS3 outsold Xbox 360 by 0.7 million units. Other big markets like UK for instance appreciate PlayStation over Xbox. If we go by recently released data, Sony's console is favorite among European audience, with 14.7 million units to the Xbox 360's 13.7 million units. We know that sales of PlayStation Move are not that great, if we compare with Kinect, but still sales are coming from Europe & Asia.

Xbox, brand owned by Microsoft lacks the Aspirational value among large number people. If we compare Xbox’s & PlayStation history, we get to know that, Xbox is not a successful brand in comparison with PlayStation. Prior to Xbox 360, the original Xbox failed miserably not only in its Home land (USA) but also in major gaming territories. Thankfully Xbox 360 saved company’s dwindling image in console business. Xbox 360 is a great console, best known for its first-person shooting games like Halo, Call of Duty etc. Its Xbox Live service is far far better than PlayStation Store. Although, Xbox 360 wins in games, power, performance, but it lacks in hardware, this is where PS3 wins. Lack of Blu-Ray player in Xbox 360 might be a big reason of now disowning this console. Another possible reason is” Lack of Awareness “among Asian & European users. Countries like India for e.g., where gaming culture is not high that of USA & Europe. There PlayStation is a king because of its Marketing & Advertising techniques thanks to SCEE.

Kinect has charged Xbox 360 performance in many parts of world. But is it enough for Microsoft’s to make Xbox, a household name like PlayStation. On the other hand, Sony the owner of proud PlayStation brand needs to focus on its online services like PlayStation Store & PlayStation Home (Remember?). A console without games is like a “BRICK”. It’s true, PS3 is a dream console for most of the developers & publishers, but for that quality games should be released in due time. Of late, Sony has got the right signal from gaming community that if they want to succeed, they have to release games. Now the company has launched Quality titles like Killzone 3(3D capable), Little Big Planet 2 & many more to follow like infamous 2, Uncharted 3 among other.

Born to Entertain : PlayStation 2

PS2s recent win over Xbox 360 gives us enough evidence that this monster is not dead.  According to Media Create (Japan’s official gaming sales tracking agency) recently unveiled its latest data, you will be surprised to know that a 10 years old PS2 outsells Xbox 360. Sony, the makers of PlayStation 2 themselves don’t know, when they will going to stop manufacturing PS2. With the strong base of 150 million sold (not shipped) & games for the system still being made, it is evident that people are still buying this aged console. What makes ps2 still sellable in its 11th year? There are number of factors, which make PlayStation 2 still going like its sweet price of $99,  availability in developing markets like India, Brazil & Mexico, developers interest , light & compact design , Ps3 non- compatibility  & Ps2s wooing nature to tap non –gamers across the globe.
