GameStop sees plenty of opportunity by selling Android tablets

Have you ever found any another reason to visit your nearest local gaming store (a.k.a GameStop Store)?  I know, you just shopped for Battlefield 3 and looking forward to Call of Duty Modern Welfare 3 in coming days. If you are planning to purchase a brand new tablet, probably Android powered, than paying a visit to GameStop is a must for all gaming freaks. The specialty video game retailer with 6,450 retail stores around the world, plans to sell Android based tablets.  

GameStop Corporation has jointly collaborated with leading tablet makers such as Samsung, Asus and Acer. All these tablets (models) are non- exclusive to GameStop. When you shop from GameStop, exclusive content from Electronic Arts (EA), access to GameStop’s own App store called “Kongregate Arcade” among others adds a new dimension to widely available android tablets

Earlier company was looking to develop its own range but finally went with familiar established brands. The Grapevine, Texas, based firm developed new wireless controller, which can be purchased along with tablets. Each controller costs consumers $39, looks very similar to current generation controllers developed by Sony and Microsoft. It’s interesting to see how a gamer will interact with game by using physical controllers.

But now the question rises, are consumers actually ready to pay outrageous prices for a tablet. Why consumers go for non- branded GameStop tablet? According to Tony Bartel, President, GameStop “Consumers wants to play games on multiple platforms” Can any body tell, when we going to see a true gaming tablet from Alienware. Yes! A true tablet meant for gaming, only gaming, nothing else. Why companies like Amazon  waste their resources and energies by making fully featured cum all in one gadget. Still looking for an answer?

Sony has learnt from its past mistakes. In comparison to Microsoft, a leader at the moment, Sony is doing every bit to promote its latest wonders. From Uncharted games to PS Vita, the company has made sure to target its dedicated audiences. This is far better approach rather than to go masses.  Many people says to me, how high price of a product leads to its downfall. It’s very difficult to comment. If companies target a section of population with their products and than go masses by lowering the prices; intelligent move, I would say. Here, I would like to mention a classic case of Apple Inc. They always introduced their products at much higher price, targets a set of people and  end result was like this “Apple Fan Boys” created . Now, the market is ruled by Apple Inc. Say for Instance, Mac Book Air, tad expensive in the beginning, now a chart topper every where in the world. What they have done?  Firstly, seduced “target” audiences with their killer products than slowly and gradually lower the price by going viral.

But for all that, you need a killer product, than only one can think of Apple Inc. In case of Xbox 360, things are completely different. Sony has slashed the price of PlayStation 3 by 15%, still Xbox is doing well, each month. With no price cuts this year, Microsoft is one happy guy.

Twist & Turn- Gaming Season Update

The festive season has begun on a right note. This week Apple refreshed Mac Book Pro on the other hand , Nokia unveiled new range of Windows based smart phones to counter android and  iphone 4GS. For all book seekers, Steve Jobs much talked Biography all set to en-cash on Jobs death. But what about gamers, are they left alone? This season, gamers are the most profitable one. Firstly, much hyped Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception set to knock your doors on November 1. Get Set Zoom for Grand Theft Auto V

  It’s hard to be believed but Rockstar Games have finally decided to make console gaming to next level. The makers of highly appreciated Grand Theft Auto series set to unveil the next version in the form of Grand Theft Auto V (GTAV). According to official website, Rockstar Games will be launching a first –look kind of thing on 11.02.11. No information has been provided by the developer, whether the game is being developed for current generation consoles or for next – generation consoles like Wii U.

We heard that various developers secretly working on PS4 games. And on the Xbox front, analysts claimed that Microsoft to launch next version of Xbox 360 in late 2012. Well, one can’t comment until unless something concrete came our way. But, this time Nintendo might be using all his magical powers to capture coveted title like Grand Theft Auto V reserved for Wii U as exclusive. No knows, whether GTA V will be limited to Wii U or multi – console in nature. I’m sure , gamers will be as delighted as developer himself.

Now I can talk about PlayStation Vita.

                                 

Any one remembers this song? When Sony unveiled the trailer of PlayStation Vita at this year E3 conference, I noticed a popping sound at the back drop of trailer. What was so special about that sound is the never ending echo entrenched my head. Now, I’m able to get this song. There is a band called The Two Door Cinema Club, don’t know how popular this band but this particular song I can talk sounds super cool.

With this track, I Can Talk, Sony tried to build excitement among its core audiences. Now I can talk directly talks about PlayStation Vita and how unbelievable is this monster. For your convenience, I jotted down the lyrics.

Welcome to Tab Gaming: Your's Next BFF (Part- 1)

Many a time, you went to near by local gaming store and came back with nothing. Are you one of them?  Here, I ‘am not talking about recession. A new kind of gamers are evolving, blame tablets than. They are smart enough to play games and work simultaneously. What an idea? 

We all face one big hurdle with gaming consoles these days. I mean from the very beginning. You know, what I am taking about.  On an average a modern gamer spent $60 on new game. And for a handheld console, add $40. Even discount stores, don’t make any difference.

So, what’s the solution? Yes, we want awesome games to play. But, we also want some productive things out of it. What’s wrong with tablets?  They are smart, sexy and productive too.

I know many of you are obsessed with your sane ipads. Many of you also own Asus transformers, Motorola Xoom among others. Now, Amazon has announced Kindle Fire, since than, the whole world is going Gaga about tablets. Amazon entry into tab market has made Apple jealous for sure. Even Sony is not far behind; they recently launch their much hyped Tablet S for $499. Another model tablet P will be available to consumers in coming months. The Japanese giant aims to be No 2 tablet maker after Apple. The Sony tablets are compatible with old PS1 titles and PSP games. Even small players too making crackling sounds with their innovative tablets.

Apart from Apple “Magical” ipad, most of the manufacturers like Sony, Samsung, LG, Asus, Acer and Toshiba use Google’s Android operating system. Though, Apple still holds most of the pie but Android based tablets would be a driving force to make market sustainable.

Now, come to the gaming aspects of tablets. When Apple launched ipad back in 2010, critics were not pleased with this adolescent baby. Some said, gamings on tablets are not up to the mark and other said it has a potential to change the face of gaming. Just like Angry Birds changed the face of gaming. On the other hand, tablets still looking out for “THE” game but don’t worry in coming months you might see tablets gaming were being ported to console gaming. 

Let the VITA begins, starting February 22nd, 2012

Imagine, you are holding PS Vita, on Day 1. How exciting?  Ok. Jack Tretton of Sony announced the availability of PS Vita in USA, Europe, Canada and Latin America. The dashing hand – held console comes with 5 inch OLED display, dual – analog sticks, dual –cameras and front and rear touch panel. As per reports, the console boosts 512MB of ram. With more than 100 quality title under development, this monster is ready to fly.

Of lately, 3DS from Nintendo is selling like hot cakes after recent price cuts. Even games for 3DS, started showing some momentum. We all know that PS Vita is a big beast, packed with stunning graphics. But are you ready to pay $250 / $299?

The makers of FarmVille and CityVille set to make India their favored place to invest their resources in R&D. Unlike, Western countries, India remains untouched with console based games. Being, a price sensitive market console culture still remains a distinct dream for gamers. As, more players like Zygna expected to make mullah in ever growing markets such as India and China, growth of local gaming firms is on rise . With, broadband culture pretty catching fast among upper middle class, the growth in this booming space will make T.V audiences envy .

PS Move successfully shipped "Magical" 8 million units

Urgent !!  Looking for a decent dancing partner , aged  under 22 

They sold 10 million units, back in March, 2011. Now, Sony has come out in open and revealed PS Move numbers. A total of 8.3 million units “shipped “to various retailers.  The company will be adding more titles (software) by the end of 2011. Sony also bundles PS Move along with PS3 systems. As of now, PS Move has not done exceptionally well in United States of America. There, consumers are more inclined towards Microsoft’s Kinect. What will Sony do to encounter Wii U? Or Microsoft will be in real motion controller war with Wii U.

Steve Jobs, a miracle man

He left us spell bounded with his“i” catchers

He changed the tactics of playing games 

He left us with one simple message “iRocks” 

If you ask me to stop using computer, right now. What will be my reaction? Of course, one can’t think our life without a computer. Back in 1979, he along with Bill Atkinson managed to turn around the ethics of technology, giving birth to modern day mouse to control the computers.

His idea, Apple Lisa became the first commercial computer controlled with a single button. Thanks to mouse. Even after so many years, he re-packaged the same mouse into smarter one called magic mouse.

With 300 patients to his credit, the technology we know today is all done by one man named Steven Paul Jobs. Any computer is incomplete by Graphical User Interface (GUI). In late 1980s, Apple set on a mission to make computers feature rich with lots of graphics and icons. And these high ambitions, gave world a new form of beast, in the form of Macintosh.

When we talk about iPads, iPhones and all “i” range of products. One thing, we can’t ignore is the message behind each innovations. All of his products are accredited with a simple message i.e. how we can make our lives simple and productive with technology. Steve also changed the way we used to play games. If you recall, Mr Jobs, used to work for Atari as a technician. His Pixar’s days also helped him a lot.

Today, iPads has stirred gaming market like anything. More and more people wants apple product for gaming. The way, Mr. Jobs, opened new –vistas for developers created a new breed of App developers. “Touch” technology has given gamers, a new intuitive way to play games. Now days, I hardly see gamers saying enough to iGaming.

He always focused on creating something unique. His latest wonder, iPhone 4s, got phenomenal reception all around the world.  One wonders, what will happen to the world without him. His contribution in technological revolution will be remembered for ever. They say a diamond is forever. Though, it diminishes like an ash but its “shine” always lit greedy minds
