I cried
I rolled down on Floor
I wished for stuff like S1, S2
Sony finally announced their own versions “TABLETS” in the form of S1, S2. Both the tablets can be up for grabs later this year. Earlier this year, Nikkei reported that, Sony is possibly launching Tablets in wake of growing interest in tablet computing. Sony’s honcho CEO Howard Stringer also admitted that their Android 3.0 ready tablets will be rolled out by “summers”. Today, at the Press conference held in Tokyo , Sony finally made it clear that their mysterious tablets are real and will be available across the world later this year.
Their flagship model S1 gives competition to Samsung’s Galaxy series and Motorola Xoom besides magical ipad 2. The tablet comes with 9.4 inch screen and will be powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 2 processor. You also get some pretty features such as 3G built in connection, front & rear facing camera, WiFi ,Google’s Android 3.0 OS & of course “ PlayStation Suite”.
The other model known as S2, which is quite smaller than Big Brother S1, comes with a 5.5 inch screen (Clam shell design) .Again, it also comes with Android 3.0 OS, Nvidia’s Tegra 2 processor among standard features. Both the models are compatible with Sony’s Qrio Video and Audio VoD services. Sony’s S2 tablet, which features 5.5 inch looks pretty similar to just launched Kyocera Echo. If you remember, Dell also came up with an idea of 5 inch tablets with Streak tablet, but unfortunately the tablet performed miserably. Are they trying to position S2 somewhere between a 9inch and 7 inch tablet?
Sony products carry a high price tag in comparison with their competitors. Let’s hope they don’t repeat the same mistake what Motorola did with Xoom.
